British Wildlife Magazine

Journal Entry: Tue May 8, 2007, 2:09 AM

Hello everyone

British Wildlife MagazineSince its launch in Autumn 1989 British Wildlife has rapidly established itself as a quality magazine providing essential reading for both enthusiast and professional naturalists and wildlife conservationists in Great Britain and Ireland.

Fully illustrated - includes high quality colour and black-and-white illustrations and photographs

Up-to-date - coverage of the latest news and events concerning British wildlife and conservation

Accessible - written by acknowledged experts for the non-specialist

Authoritative - published with the co-operation of the major British wildlife organisations

Regular features - wildlife reports, reserve focus, conservation news, habitat management news, book reviews and letters

Superb value for money - over 400 information packed pages (not cluttered with advertisements) a year for as little as 19.95

Six issues delivered direct to your address

The above is admittedly a direct copy and paste from their website but I have to say I've just taken out a subscription to the magazine myself. I contacted them to see if I could get a back copy and they sent me a recent one as a sample free of charge. I was really impressed, it's an excellent publication. Why not try a sample copy yourself and make up your own mind? If you contact them by email you don't have to sign up for a subscription before trying out the sample. Here's the link to their site - britishwildlife.com

My apologies by the way, I know this CSS looks awful. I'll get it sorted soon. Or... if anyone would like to design new CSS for the Club Journal please send it in a note. That would be great as I'm no expert.

Interesting, it looks like a good magazine  I am subscribed to another magazine called 'The BBC Wildlife Magazine' and have been for about three years now :) I fully recommend it to anyone interested in wildlife/nature (which I think is unanimous in this club ;)) it contains everything from how to identify plants, scat,..ect..to whats happening around the world from natures point of view and man's affect on nature. Theres also a small photography section :D And because its BBC, it shows you what good wildlife tv/radio programs are also on :)Its also wonderfully published and contains a LOT of great photography ;) Theres also a lot of other stuff too :) I know that it's not all entirely British but as we were on the topic of magazines I couldn't resist to recommend it :)

A good recommendation, I know it well. I don't get it on subscription but do still pick up a copy every now and then.

I kinda decided a couple of years back to concentrate (mostly) on British Wildlife though. There is SO much to learn even about our own flora and fauna that one day I found myself saying to a friend that you could dedicate your whole life to it and still discover something new to surprise you every day. Then I thought - why not? So that's me pegged, huh? :D

It's a difficult field to find paid work in to be honest. I feel as if I have my foot in the door in that respect but not much more than that right now.

That said I can't imagine not working for the benefit of wildlife at some level or other now paid or unpaid.

Hi Dan. Happy to help :)
:iconowl-light:
